For Your Dog or Horse

Dog & Animal Acupuncture in Annapolis

In 2008 I completed an intensive certification program in Animal Acupuncture at the Maryland University of Integrative Health, taught by veterinarian acupuncturists. I am licensed for animal acupuncture in Maryland.

My dog as teacher

When I was an acupuncture student, I had no intention of treating animals. I adore dogs but never imagined having them as patients. Then I wanted to give the benefits of acupuncture to my beloved McKenna, a ten-year-old golden retriever/lab mix.

His first treatment was a moving experience to witness. He got very relaxed, his breathing changed, his eyes brightened, his coat seemed more lustrous. At his second visit, he jumped out of the car and went right over to the office door.

At 14 he had a stroke and was treated immediately with acupuncture and homeopathy. Within less than 12 hours he was nearly back to 100%. He is my teacher and role model for how to be happy every day. It is because of him that I have the honor of working with animals.

Acupuncture for Dogs with Arthritis, Mobility Issues & Senior Dogs

Arthritis and mobility issues are among the most common reasons animals come to me, but just as with people, the benefits go well beyond that. Acupuncture can help with:

  • Arthritis and mobility issues
  • Hip pain, dysplasia, and lameness
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Behavioral issues (fear, separation anxiety)
  • Digestive and urinary problems
  • Recovery from injuries and surgeries
  • Easing transitions into a new home
  • Keeping a healthy dog healthy

How to get started

  1. Text me or email me.

Text me and I will call you back. You can also email me and put “Animal Acupuncture Inquiry” in the subject line. We’ll talk about your animal and schedule the first visit.

  2. First visit.

The initial consultation and treatment take about an hour, at my office or at your home for horses, senior dogs and dogs with mobility issues.

  3. Follow-ups.

Most dogs start with weekly visits for 3–4 weeks; then we space appointments out based on how your animal responds.

What Dog Acupuncture Costs

Office treatments are $125. House calls are available for horses, senior dogs, and dogs with mobility issues who may prefer to be treated in their own home; pricing is based on travel distance.

"Thank you again so much for working on my baby girl. She didn't trip at all going out this a.m."
C.O., Arnold, MD, on Marnie, a 29-year-old horse who was limping after a fall and trotted normally after one treatment
"Yoshi, my 15-year-old pug, truly loved his acupuncture treatments. He was routinely excited every time he approached the neighborhood for an appointment, even more so whenever I said Carol's name. As a cancer survivor, I sincerely believe his three years of treatments brought him a much higher quality of life in his final years. Her medical expertise and powerful intuition distinguish her as a true healer."
